Welcome to the Can YA Love (Kenya) maiden blog. We will be sharing our work with you in the coming months to show the impact that agriculture and composting can have on communities in need and the environment as a whole.
The CYL (K) team has broken ground on their innovative and back to nature approach to agriculture in Kenya. The three day seminar from February 22nd-24th saw about fifty leaders of various schools, women's groups, youth groups, NGOs and CBOs alike.
The organizations that sent representatives to the seminar include:
Kabiro Primary School (Kawangware);
Parents of Children with Special Needs Association(Kawangware);
Muti-Vision Group (Eldoret);
Youth Safety Awareness Initiative (Eldoret);
Garden of Eden, Kenya (Kibera);
Lakers Art Group (Kisumu);
Lakers Conservation Group (Kisumu);
and the Kawangware Urumwe Youth Group.
The seminar was held at the Kabiro Primary School and hosted by the Kawangware Urumwe Youth Group (KUYG). The attendees were vocal about their appreciation at an emotional closing ceremony. The Kabiro Primary school grounds will now host two gardens, one that will support the school with fresh vegetables for student meals and provide an opportunity for students themselves to grow and learn composting and agriculture, and the other that will support KUYG and double as training ground for future partners in the area. More details to come soon.
